Our students and staff embraced the Halloween fun. See who if you can guess some of the scary characters.


Halloween Spooky Stroll
Everyone at Newport NS enjoyed the Halloween Spooky Stroll around the school yard and through the town. We were joined by members of the Parents Association and other parents and family members.


Sixth Class Podcast with The Voice Box
Sixth class were lucky to be given the opportunity to record their own podcast about life in Newport. They had a great experience with Gavin fromThe Voice Box. We are looking forward to the podcast being made available and will share the link once its in the public domain.


Second Class Flat Stanley Project
Second class have been working on their Flat Stanley project. They posted their letters with Flat Stanley enclosed and are so excited to hear about his travels and adventures from arpound the world.


First Class - Maths & Science
First class were busy making 2D shapes recently. They carried out a Food Taste test. They were keeping an eye on their eggs (teeth) in different liquids.


Newport Christmas Market
Newport Christmas Market will take place on Sunday 7 December 2025. Our school Gospel choir will be singing outside the "Grainne Uaile" from 4:30-5:30pm. Please come along and join in while they share some festive cheer.

Student Council 2025/26
The election for this year’s Student Council was held on 26 th  September. I want to congratulate all the children who put their names forward for this year’s Student Council. The children worked very hard in writing their manifestos, preparing their campaign posters and presenting to their fellow classmates. We are all very proud of their efforts. I look forward to seeing all the work the new council will undertake throughout this school year. Exciting times!!!!


Maths Trail for Maths Week
Ms McGovern's Fifth Class participated in a fun maths trail of the school grounds. The pupils were encouraged to look at their surroundings through maths eyes.


Mayo Dark Sky Festival 2025
Fiona got in touch to let us know what we can expect at this year's Mayo Dark Sky Festival 31 October - 2 November... Dear Parents, Firstly, I wanted to say a big THANK YOU  to the whole school community for your support of the Mayo Dark Sky Festival since it first started back in 2016. While I have retired from school life, I am keeping busy with the upcoming festival, which takes place at the end of the mid-term break 31 October - 2 November . The festival always attr
