Bike Week, which normally takes place in June, has been cancelled or possibly postponed to September/October.

With lots more cyclists on the road, An Taisce Green Schools would like to continue to support and encourage cyclists with different resources.

This year Cillian and his family took part in the Incredible Edibles school / family challenge

They were delighted to WIN the Family Friday feature for this in May and were in the Top 10 in the Grand Final

Cilllian and Aoife are delighted with their great achievement and can’t wait for all their vegetables to grow!

Don't you just love this amazing marine mammal project on the evolution of whales?

It was created by pupil Christopher Troy for a competition organised by CuriOcean, who visited the school back in February.

A big THANK YOU to our hard-working caretaker Ged Gallagher who has been taking such good care of the school while we have been closed.  As well as freshening up the paintwork, and polishing the floors, he has found time to upgrade our Bug Hotel !

We look forward to welcoming many guests to our new accommodation.

As you know, we have six birdboxes on the school's north facing wall (ie the one facing Rosmore) and two of these boxes have cameras installed so we can observe any activity.  We hope some day to attract swifts, which are becoming endangered in Ireland, but are happy when any species decides to make their home there.

On a rare trip to the school to check post today, I spotted that one of the birdboxes is now home to some chicks...

As we mentioned last month, Noeline Haylett will be shipping backpacks and school bags to Ghana after Christmas, so we are asking parents to donate old or spare school bags they may have so that we can donate to Noeline and her great work with school children in Africa.

and leave them at the front of the school hall.

At the end of that day, we will deliver the bags...
