Whole Wild World Bus comes to school!
On Thursday 19th of April, we were visited by Laureate na nÓg Patricia Forde and her author friends - Jane Mitchell, Maire Zepf, Chris Haughton and Áine Ní Glinn.
Laureate na nÓg is a position awarded to a distinguished author every two years.
Patricia Forde decided this year to bring authors to parts of Ireland to schools, libraries and book shops along the Wild Atlantic Way.
We had to apply to be included in the tour and thankfully our application was accepted.
Patricia and her colleagues arrived at 12.30 in what the Explorers described as 'The Bubblegum Bus'. Everyone was very excited to meet them. Patricia and Chris started in Junior and Senior Infants, with Maire in 1st class. They had a wonderful time listening to their stories and discussing what it's like to be an author.
After lunch the authors and illustrators visited 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class where they read their stories, discussed the writing process, wrote poems and had a Q & A session.
It was a very memorable day and one we hope everyone enjoyed.
Thank you to Ms Finnerty for arranging everything!
