An Post Rás 22 May

One of the biggest sporting competitions in the country comes to Newport on the 22nd of May.

The 2017 An Post Rás will arrive in Newport about 2pm. There are 12 international teams, and about 25 domestic teams, including TWO from Mayo - Covey Wheelers team from Westport and the Castlebar Cycling Club.

The Castlebar team includes a parent from Newport NS - Chris Troy - and the school would like to wish him the best of luck in this challenging 8 day race.

In 2015 Newport had over 1,000 spectators lining the streets for the arrival of the Rás, it would be great to see those numbers out again to welcome all the cyclists in, especially our Mayo teams!
