

Enrolment Week 3-6 February
Newport NS Enrolment Week 2026 takes place from 3 to 6 February. Online applications will open on Tuesday 3 February and will close on Friday 6 February. We are hosting an Open Evening on Wednesday 4 February at 7pm. Come along and visit the school and meet the team.


Drumming With Anthony
All students are taking part in a 6 week drumming workshop with Anthony McNamee throughout January and February. Drumming brings so much energy and fun to the day. The children enjoy exploring new rhythms, trying out different beats and making music together. They are working towards a final performance on 26 February.


First Class Feast
Firat class enjoyed hot chocolates and cookies for a treat.


Junior Infants - Gingerbread People
Ms Berry's Junior Infants loved decorating some gingerbread people! They had great fun listening to the gingerbread story, learning the gingerbread dance and of course eating the ginbgerbread creations.


First Class Data Work
First Class had a fun time completing their Smarties Data work. Learning maths using everyday items is very interesting.


Special Visitor
First Class with a big welcome for a special visitor. Thank you to "Santa" for visiting Newport NS. Thank you to the PA who accompanied him and helped distribute some games to all classes. Can you spot the Newport NS December Elf?


4th Class STEPS Engineering Projects
4th Class were so proud to present their STEPS engineering projects to local engineer Victor del Rosal. They gave a wonderful presentation and Victor was impressed with the stamdard of the projects.


Talk for parents on screens and phones
Newport National School. Thursday 29th January 2026. Talk for Parents and Teachers. Electronic Media and the Developing Brain: What Parents and Teachers Need to Know for a Truly Smart Generation. Speaker: Paula Healy, BA (Hons), MSc.. Paula completed an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Sussex, England. Her research thesis focused on computer game playing and addiction. Since then, she has given seminars on the effects of excessive screen exposure, in schools
