Fifth and Sixth class travelled to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar to work with Laureate na nÓg PJ Lynch for the second part of the 'Big Picture'and 'Fighting Words' project. In September, both fifth and sixth class participated in a writing workshop. The challenge was to complete a story entitled, "The Young Prince and the Giant", which was started by an unknown pupil from Skerdagh NS in 1930.Today, both classes met with PJ Lynch to create a mural depicting the writing of Faye English (fifth class) and Aoibheann McManamon (sixth class). We also had the honour of being visited by Aoibheann's grandfather, Jim McManamon, who is 97 years old and was a pupil of Skerdagh NS at around the same time as the original story was written.

The mural, which was created using chalks and pastels, will be on display in the Linenhall Arts Centre as part of the Roola Boola Children's Arts Festival
