Heritage Council community project

As part of the Heritage Council's 'Europe for Culture' programme, the Friends of Mayo Dark Skies are running a community project to collect and record local stories, folklore, piseogs (superstitions) relating to the night sky in Ireland. They are asking everyone - from schools to colleges, from young to old, to gather and share any traditions, stories or piseogs from times past.

They are asking that the stories be written down in simple language and sent to them at

The collected works will then be collated and published, and selected pieces will be included in a storytelling pereformance by seanchai Dan O'Donoghue at the Mayo Dark Sky Festival from 2-4 November

The deadline for submission is 4th October 2018
