Zoom talks on Astronomy
5th and 6th Class parents
I thought you might like to hear about two Zoom talks that are happening next week to celebrate International Dark Sky Week.
As part of this international event, Mayo is presenting a full week of virtual events from 5 - 11 April, starting on Monday 5 April (Easter Monday) with a talk about 'Exploring Mars' with Derek Dempsey of Newport Astronomy Club, and finishing on Sunday 11 April with a great talk by Irish astronomer Brendan Owens about our nearest star - ie the Sun.
All the events are free and I think both of the talks I mention above are very suitable for 5th and 6th class - who knows, you may have some budding astrophysicists in the family!
As I mentioned, all events are free, but you do need to register in advance to get your Zoom link.
