The children made some amazing creations this week to celebrate Easter - including a Craft and Bake Sale in 4th Class HAPPY EASTER from everyone at Newport National School.

Change to School Calendar
Parents As communicated via email today... As children have settled back to school so well, staff have opted to work straight through from 12th April to the end of term. It was thought that the planned week's break in May might be too disruptive for the children. This will mean finishing the school year 4 days earlier on Thursday 24th June. Seed Saver winners!
We were delighted to receive the attached letter from Irish Seed Savers, announcing that we had been selected a one of fiver runners up in their competition. We won seeds and a Garden Book for the school, and the children are looking forward to planting them soon!

Staggered Dismissal times Friday
Parents: Just as we did at Christmas, there will be STAGGERED DISMISSAL TIMES THIS FRIDAY 26 MARCH for Easter Holidays... 11:30 Explorers Classes 11:45 Junior & Senior Infants 11:50 1st, 2nd, 3rd classes 11:55 4th, 5th, 6th classes School Bus Drivers have been informed and will be in attendance at the correct time. NOTE - NO LUNCHES DELIVERED ON FRIDAY 26 MARCH.

Planting time for 4th Class
4th Class were busy this week planting red onions in our school planters.

A Rare Discovery!
Cillian and his sister Aoife discovered a very rare blue shore crab in Clew Bay recently. It is now recorded on Citizen Science detective data. Great detective work indeed...

Tree Planting success!

6th class celebrate their return to school
What a lovely two days it was for The Return! Sixth class walked around the quay and went for a visit to Princess Grace Park for their 'parade' before having a treat at Centra. Special day!

A Tree for All!
Well we had such fun picking our trees today! Each child gets to bring home a native Irish woodland tree, along with instructions, stickers and a certificate. Remember - they should be planted as soon as possible! Happy planting and Happy St Patricks Day everyone
