Newport 300 needs your help!

300 things we love about Newport... As we celebrate Newport's 300th birthday this week (Thursday to be precise) the committee would like to create a collage of all the things we love about our town. We are asking EVERYONE - especially the local children - to send us ONE THING that illustrates why they #lovenewport. It can be.. • A photo • A drawing • A word or a short phrase If the children would like to participate, you can send their work to the school email (office@newportns.ie) before Friday 3rd April. (and listen out for those church bells on THURSDAY at 3pm marking the town's birthday) Regards Fiona

School Lunches next term

Although it might be hard right now to imagine life returning to normal, this may give you some re-assurance, as you can now place your orders(s) for school lunches for your child(ren) for the final term of the 2019/2020 school year. Orders should be placed by 10th April 2020 and those submitted by that time will commence on the first day we return to school in the new term. Once an order is submitted it will remain in place to the end of the term. You may change your order by simply submitting a new one before 10th April. If you wish to place or change your order after that date, you will need to contact me by email (office@newportns.ie) If you have more than one child in Newport NS, you s

Homework 3rd Class

Hi to all the parents and pupils in Third Class. I hope ye are all holding up OK during this time of social distancing. I know that it is a very different time for all of us and that everyone is trying to manage it in their own way. Since the closure has been extended from 9 to 14 school days, I am going to make some extra suggestions for schoolwork for those of you who would like to set more work for your children for next week. I am conscious that in many houses there may be people working from home and children of all ages to be looked after so I certainly do not want to add any pressure to your home situation. After the closures, I will correct any work that has been completed but I will

Subtraction

Dear Parent/Guardian, Just a note to let you know that your child may ‘subtract’ or ‘take-away’ two-digit numbers using a different method than you might have learned in school yourself. This video might clarify how it has been taught to your child in class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv8URIRgCdo Kind regards, Kevin Gallagher
